Lies Young Women Believe

Lies Young Women Believe by Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh contains some powerful truths that hit me like a ton of bricks. As I came to the realization that some of the decisions I made throughout my life were based on deception and untruths, I found comfort in knowing that my daughter will not be subject to the same slave-like mentality. She will know the truth early on because of the newly discovered truth in my life.

I like to refer to this book as the “mind renewing training manual.” The exposure of lies that the women of my generation believe liberates the mind, heart, and the soul. John 8:32 KJV tells us that ye shall know the truth and the truth shall MAKE you free. It sounds like we don’t have a choice in the matter except to be free once the truth has been revealed.

This book gives twenty-five examples of some of the major lies that young women tend to believe. It also gives real life situations and circumstances of how these lies are affecting women throughout the nation. The authors have conducted research and gained valuable data that proves that the vast majority of us believe the same lies. Which brings me to my next point, how the enemy likes to isolate us in regards to our thinking. We have a tendency to think ‘we’re alone’ but in actuality we are not alone, we struggle in the same areas, with the same thought s and the same feelings. We are a sisterhood with the same heavenly Father and that is one truth that will remain as long as you believe.

My children and I have devotions before school. My boys have a devotional book that we read from that is appropriate for their age and gender. However, I’ve been trying to find a devotional book for my teenage daughter and after reading this book I think I’ve found our ‘before school’ devotional.
