I use to live in a big city (SF) and can very well relate to the main character, Mia, as I have known several people in my own life that exhibit her characteristics. I also love books that portray clashing mother-daughter relationships. Stretch Marks sounds like one of those laugh, cry, and relate to the scenarios presented. I'm adding this one to my TBR list!
